The Update Edit WHITE BOOTS

White Boots

This one is all about how to update your dresses and one of the questions I am asked most when it comes to styling is…. white boots. In fact, I’ve inadvertently become a bit of a white boot champion, I just love how they can lift an outfit immediately. While I happily wear them from September through to May, they really do come into their own now. Adding them to your winter dresses gives us the hope that spring is round the corner and keeps everything feeling fresh and modern. I have 4 pairs I’ve owned for over 5 years that I wear on repeat so they are worthy investments. If you don’t own a pair yet, I hope this helps guide you to the right ones. And if you do, I hope it inspires you to dust them off.

THE DENIM DRESS

Ignore any concerns of heading down the cowgirl route, denim + white boots is a brilliant combination. We all own a denim dress (well if you’ve followed me for a while I’m amazed if you don’t) and the box fresh feel of the white feels so very perfect. I promise. I’m wearing my old favourite Jimmy Choo’s here with an Emilia Wickstead dress (always the denim dress that got away from me and on multiple second hand alerts). The stiletto boots, while harder to wear for a full day of stomping around, are great for smarter moments.

THE WHITE DRESS

Yes, you can wear white in winter and I love finding any excuse to keep wearing my favourite cotton dresses. Just layer either underneath (I live in Uniqlo ultra slim thermals) or on top (you can’t beat a Cefinn Janice knit). A white boot WITH a white dress is the icing on the cake and I keep it quite simple, using black as the other colour in the mix for a modern monochrome look. This is a very favourite Lug Von Siga cotton poplin dress that I bought in the January sale last year and I just couldn’t until the summer to wear. Teamed with a black blazer and my trusty Arket white cowboy boots it was a great outfit for a pre-spring dinner.

THE FLORAL DRESS

The floral dress is still going as strong as ever (come on, it won’t really ever go anywhere will it?) White boots will give your favourite florals a spring refresh. By picking prints that have white running through helps pull the whole look together. I’ve worn mine with ditsy prints and bolder brighter ones like this Albaray style from a few seasons ago and they really do give you that much needed spring lift.

THE NEUTRAL DRESS

I’m wearing more neutral toned dresses than ever at the moment and the darker hues look so chic with white boots. I’m wearing an old favourite Cefinn dress with my trusty Zara boots that I could have sold multiple times over in the last few years they have been so admired!

The only time I have tried and failed to incorporate white boots into an outfit is when it is a single block of bright colour. Too Barbie with pinks, Mrs Claus with red and Wimbledon vibes with green. Dark block colours will look much chicer; soft grey, nautical navy or keep it monochrome with black.
